So hereby we are about to discuss the steps to go ahead and get the Netgear wireless range Extender connected to our wifi network.

There are 2 to 3 ways to get an extender configured with our router or wifi device

The methods to do so are

1.WPS method.
2.Manual configuration.

So let’s talk about the WPS method First:-

In the WPS method You need to located a small button on the extender which is labeled as WPS WPS stands for WiFi Protected Setup, and help you to create a protected setup for WiFi without getting into settings and create passwords and put in the IP Addresses. Again as you located the WPS on the extender check on the router as well and you will find a WPS button in there also.

Now you need to press the WPS button on the Extender and keep it pressed for two seconds and then do the same for the router also. Both the lights will blink for a minute or two. And than you will see the lights on the extender as well as the router. There is one catch in this process although. You need to make sure that the extender is as close as possible to the router while you are following the same procedure.

That’s not all. You need to connect a device to the extender network which surely be present in the network list by the name of your homenetwork_ext or by homenetwork_2GEXT or by homenetwork_5GEXT . When you try to connect it will ask for a password and the password is the same as your home network. So enter the password and enjoy.

let’s talk about the Manual configuration

To connect the device manually to your wifi we need to follow the following steps

  • first we need to make sure that the extender is as near as possible to the router
  • when the light on the extender (POWER) is green.
  • please check the wifi networks available to be connected on the computer.
  • you will find a network by the name of netgear_ext.
  • connect to that network
  • once connected open the setup page
  • Its mywifiext.net and that will connect you to the manual setup page
  • Than create the account for netgear and proceed further.
  • It will ask you to choose the network you want to connect.
  • Than click continue and next page is where you need to put in the wifi password.
  • After the wifi password is entered please click continue and do not change any setting till the end.
  • In the end it will be configured and you will be asked to connect a device.
  • Please connect a device to the extender network which is named as homenetwork_2GEXT or by homenetwork_5GEXT.
  • It will ask for the password and you need to put in the same password you use for your wifi network.
  • Also in case you change the password for your wifi or in case you changed the router you need to do a factory reset on the extender and also need to reconfigure it with the wifi network again
